“The market demand for skills validation has always been there, but now people have a way to prove what they know,” said Smarterer Co-Founder Dave Balter. “Never before has this validation been more important – with the rise of peer-to-peer learning (think General Assemb.ly and Intelligent.ly) and the changing face of education (think Boundless Learning, etc.).”
Smarterer lets employers create tests through its Skillsets product, and existing tests range from Ruby on Rails and Twitter to Photoshop and Excel. The Photoshop test alone has been taken by more than 12,000 people, according to the company.
